  • Rumor: Need Visa, if you transferred to another university, is this True?

I starred masters in fall 2012 and transferred to another university for spring 2013 term and planning q trip to india . But I have been worrying regarding the rumours from friends/unclear article from telugu paper eenadu like "There is a new rule passed in 2013 that u need to attend for visa again if u transfered to another university after arrival into USA or after first semester". .is this true?? Help me out..

It's not. I recently transferred from one school to another one. Things went great. The SEVIS transfer is made from your previous school to your new one. You need a new visa only if you travel out and need to renter the country, since your visa has the school that you attend. So you want to make sure that when you're coming back your visa has the same school name as your most current I-20.

you don't need new visa until u have valid visa once ur your school transfers SEVIS to new school it all set just carry the new school i-20 with a travel signature if your travelling....

After I changed my university, I got my SEVIS transferred from previous school to current one. Then I traveled to India with the same VISA carrying previous school name and current I-20. As long as you have valid VISA the school name on the VISA does not matter. You just have to make sure your SEVIS record is updated and you carry ur current I-20 with you.....

I had the same situation.... U just need to fill the transfer out form in your old university and fill the transfer in form in your new university... Once u get the the i 20, you need to show the new i 20 at the port of entry...!! This will not at all be a problem...!!!
