  • OPT-->H1B Denied, Please help me.. My career is on the line here.

I desperately need some help. My friend directed me towards you guys saying that you might be able to help. I am in a big fix, and any pointers will be greatly help me!

I graduated from UCSB and joined a software startup on OPT before they sponsored my H1-B in Nov'2012. I traveled back to India for a visit in Oct 2012 and duly went for my H1-B stamping in New Delhi where I was handed the 221-g. Since then (5+ months) I have been stuck in India waiting for this administrative processing to finish. While I have been here, it seems that my startup won't survive for long over there in US.. which means that my H1-B would no longer be valid when that happens.

So, before that happens, I am trying to find a sponsor who is willing to take a 'remote' interview while I am in India. I know that this is a very hard thing to do, and that's why I am trying to reach out to you guys to see if you can suggest some ideas

Please help me.. my career is on the line here Thank you!

We are sorry to hear about your situation, there is no easy solution given the immigration scenario but please try below

    1) Request Resume Blast at www.DesiOPT.com and talk to employers directly.
    2) Proactively apply to jobs listed at www.DesiOPT.com
    3) Call the employers who have banner Ads at DesiOPT.com as these employers are aggresively looking to hire
    4) You can do the same at other job sites

      Dear friend,
I'm on the same boat as yours. I have valid OPT but my visa expired. I travelled to India in Dec, 2012 and stuck up here. My student visa has been expired in Jan, 2013. Though I have a job in hand in US, now I have to have H1B to go back to US. My client is willing to give me a client letter for H1 processing but says he cannot wait for long time for me to come back. But even if my H1B gets approved, my client might not wait for me to come back ( as you know it takes few months for visa stamping even though it is expired).

For your case, what I can suggest is to request your employer to run the payroll till you get back to US or ask your client to wait for some more time just as he did so far.

If you have previous pay stubs transfer you H1 to some employer who is willing to sponser you, Then when you 221g is cleared you can easily come back to US.
