SEVIS Termination or Reinstatement

Hi All,

I have got visa on ABC univ and after coming to US, i have applied for transfer to XYZ univ. i have not registered in ABC and my XYZ univ is starting after my 30 days if entry in US, so technically my SEVIS will be expired and i need to activate the new SEVIS and cross the border for a new re-entry or I-94 to start my Masters. Can i go to mexico and come back and what is the risk involved in it. Please help me in this situation. Thank you!
