Advisor Denied Major Change, Need help.

I have a problem regarding my major...... i have done my engineering in ECE branch......... i got admit for masters for fall 2013 in one of the best university in BIO engineering which comes under ECE department in their i would like to change my major to ECE.......i mailed the graduate adviser of ECE department explained him my interest to pursue my masters in ECE field but he simply replied nooo......now what i should do.......seniors please help me...

get the visa on this university...after coming here simply transfer from this university

If you are really interested in ECE then apply to some other univ and get admit. If you already have admit from other univ go to that univ. Univ don't really matters if they are not Ivy league. Or you are very particular about that Univ then study Bio engineering. I guess you purposefully applied to bio engineering in that univ so why you don't want to study?

Get a new advisor, go and work in a lab of your interest in ECE branch. Impress the advisor and pursue him to take u under him. Complete ur masters in this or if u have some similar courses which I think u should be having shift ur masters to ECE and transfer those credits. The main thing is a professor in ECE should be ready to be ur advisor and should be ready to allow u to work under him.

is there any chance like changing my branch after 1st sem i m waiting for 2 more university results too but i m not sure about their admit so i will go for bio and if it is not possible to chnge my major in 1st sem i will select my electives in ECE and i will transfer o ECE in 2nd sem with that credits is that possible :Aditya Bhargva &

Yes, you can easily change the major after 1st sem. Couple of my friends have done that. But if the Advisor/ chair of ECE rejected ur transfer then I guess he wont allow you to take transfer in 2nd sem too. Advisor of the dept will be the same, you can only change major professor (under whom you will be working). But to get admit into a dept your application has to be accepted by advisor.

After getting your visa, if you have any admits you can directly get transfer from the univ that u got ur visa and go to the univ u wish for
