• 1098-T form not available

Hi everyone,

I need to file my tax returns but when I went on to download my 1098-T form it says this " Form 1098-T is not scheduled to be sent to you for this Tax Year. Please contact Student Accounts if there is any question.".
When I called the Student Accounts office, they told me that International student do not qualify for 1098-T. This was strange, because all my friends got the 1098-T except me. I told him the same thing then he said that "even if they file it will be rejected in audit."

Please help me.

I have got 1098-T from my university. Butt they didn't include the expenses from Jan-April saying that it was last financial year's expenses. But last year I was not eligible for tax returns as I was in US for less than a yr. But this yr I am eligible, so shall I ask the university to include my expenses from Jan-April? Please help. It's urgent. Thanks

1098 T calculates your tuition expense that is eligible for deduction.. Go to student financial services/financial aid. They will have you signed w9 first and then you can retrieve your 1098 T after 5 business days

Hello, for filing your tax returns always use the software issued by your university. In my case it was Sprintax (It did ask me whether I have a school issued 1098-T but asked nothing from that form). F-1 students need to file 1040 NR/EZ only and most of the tax softwares like taxact/turbotax dont support 1040NR (that's my guess). The correct method of filing for International students is always by paper and not e-filing. Once you use the software to enter all your details, it will produce the 1040 NR-EZ form which is to be signed by you and sent through a registered postal service (USPS/UPS etc) to IRS for federal returns and your state revenue service for your state returns. Hope this helps. (FYI this method of filing takes minimum 4 weeks to process.
