Hi desiopt ,
You are doing a good job helping the students in many issues.

Coming to my case .. i met with an accident recently But i was not driving the car. I was sitting in the backseat and policeman asked my identity while giving clearance to us and i gave my college id.
My question is that if that would be a problem for me while applying for OPT or H1b visa. And will it be in my record ... I am currently pursuing my masters and i will be completing by may 2016.

Were you charged with any crime or arrested? Do you think you did something wrong, or did the officer accuse you of doing something wrong? If so, this encounter should have no effect on your immigration status or any future immigration benefits.

Even if you driving the car and you had an accident, it doesn't have any affect on your immigration status. Only time it will have affect your status if a jail-term for 6 or more months.

Even though you were driving and there was no harm of life it would not be a problem. They will take you ID just in case if you report a claim then police needs to have records of what happened in accident and who we involved... You Can apply OPT, CPT and GC if your priority date is current... Have Fun....

You will be in their records for 1year, it at all you are involved in the accident again without driving they'll deport you directly from the incident.. Kya bachaaa marne aye kya bholke
