  • Mistakes in filing tax

Thank you desiopt for helping many students like me.

    My question is:

Currently I'm working as a SDE in a good company and it's a full time job. I came to US in 2011 since then I used to work on campus and for years 2011,2012 I filed taxes using glacier.

But for the year 2013 I filed using H&R block and I submitted the files online and it got approved. But I filed under 1040 application instead of 1040X which is the correct application for non residents.

This year my company is applying for my H1B do I need to amend my tax before that because we need to submit our tax forms for H1B processing and it can raise a suspicion and it creates a problem.

    1) Do I need to amend my tax before H1B?
    2) Will there be a problem for my mistake in filing the taxes?

    Thank you.

Why are you submitting your tax returns for the H-1B? There is absolutely no need to submit your tax returns for the H-1B filing. The W-2 is sufficient.
If you have a doubt about your tax returns and if you used the right form, see an Accountant and take copies of all of your tax returns and go over your status. The Accountant will be able to tell you if you did everything correctly or if the previous tax returns need to be amended.
