Yes, u can. provided if your employer is willing to do. One issue which i learnt was that it is not suggestable to apply for perm when u r on F-1 visa as it might or might not cause issues at port of entry when u go out of country and returning back on F-1Comment

If u are indian better not to do it till u get u r h1 .. As f1 is not intent to immigrate visa .. If u apply for Immigrant petition (i 140 ) it is violation of u r current f1 status .. They could revoke u r f1 visa ..Comment
