Do you think my OPT STEM extension would be approved without my degree. Are there any similar cases?
I have a concern about my STEM extension. My EAD is expiring on march 29 2013 but my degree will be conferred in may 2013. I have completed all my degree requirements and I also took a letter from my university stating the same. Some of the college officials say this letter would suffice for my STEM-OPT extension to be approved while, some say I need my degree for extension of OPT. One of my ISSO advisors suggested me to apply in the first week of march so that we can buy time from USCIS. She said that USCIS might accept the letter of completion from university and approve my EAD extension. If not, they will take a month for processing my application and to give RFE (Request for Evidence) requesting for further documents. She also said the RFE time would be 1-2 months meanwhile I can get my degree and submit to USCIS. Do you think my STEM extension would be approved without my degree. Are there any similar cases?
