Doctorate in Physical Therapy in California- Confused regarding my OPT

Confused regarding my OPT as I have not yet cleared the licence exam.

Hello,I am currently doing my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in California. My Course finishes in March 2014. I am confused regarding my OPT as I have not yet cleared the licence exam.

-I am not eligible for OPT in New York since, the rules changed and I do not have a Masters from India. I have completed all my general credits and other requirements for the other states like Virginia.
-However, I am worried If I may not be able to clear my Boards before my course finishes, shall I be eligible for OPT by other states as they would need to evaluate my DPT which would take time ? Is there a option to secure the OPT ? Kindly, Help. Thank You.

Opt in new york meaning? As long as you have ANY masters you're good

You can either get a temp permit and work on that until you clear your license. You can either find a volunteer/observer position and stay on OPT like that. You can either pass the NPTAE and work as a PTA while you are on OPT and study simultaneously for NPTE. (I am a licensed PT btw) Hope it helps.

you do not need to have a paid job to remain on OPT ! Find any volunteer work in CA and you should be good.
