  • Volunteering on OPT- Do I need letter of proof indicating how my work is related to m

Hello, I would like to ask the Desi-OPT community regarding my volunteer work for OPT.
I am currently on OPT and I will be volunteering for a professor in a research.
-Is it a must to have a letter of proof indicating how the research would be related to my degree of study?
-Is it common for the Government to contact a recent graduate on OPT to provide additional document which proves their employment in the US? Thanks!

I am not so sure about this answer but as far as I know
the company for which your professor is working should be E-verified. In The first 12 months of the OPT you can work as volunteer. You should notify your International admission officer about the details under whom you are working under.. Just contact your International admission officer. You will get to know the details
