  • OPT filed after 30 days of I20 being endorsed by school

Hello, I have sent my application to USCIS but they still have not replied that they have received it. They have also not deposited my check for 380 dollars. I am out of the 30 day period between signing the i20 and USCIS receiving my application. What should I do? I have about 80 days left including my 60 day grace period. Any suggestions to what I should do?

Why don't you call to USCIS?

How did you send the application? I hope by Priority Mail, Express Mail, Fed Ex or UPS- a method that you could track and you can show that the application was received by USCIS before the 30 day expired. That is going to be your ONLY defense if USCIS claims the application was not filed in time. If you used regular mail with no tracking (not very smart), then you may want to consider filing again with a new I-20 before your OPT ends. If USCIS eventually does receipt the first case, you can withdraw the first application.

                Hello everyone,

I am in urgent need for help guys. I applied for OPT and 2 months later got a RFE- as it turns out, my DSO forgot to include a copy of my passport page in my application package. I am extremely worried as I am not entirely sure whether I should be reissuing a new I-20 (in order to make sure I don't pass the 30 day window of filing), or whether I should just send the passport copy that they asked for. I heard about many people forgetting to sign I-20 or I-765 and having to get reendorsed and refile the entire application. Please advise, this is keeping me up at night.
