  • Changing initial OPT Employment information

    Hi guys,
I am in bad situation so i really need your help.
I joint a consultancy with a hope that they can find me a job. I reported to DSO that i was stay with them. They could not find a job for me so i have to find my own way to remain status.
However, i forgot to ask them for an employment letter. I thought that is not important because it was initial OPT. I made a mistake there.
Right now, i am asking them for a training unpaid employment letter when i was there. but they are not willing to give it to me.

I am worry that I might receive a REF in the future during H1 or GC process. So i could not prove that i was here.

I was thinking to tell to DSO to change my employment information in my initial OPT to one of my friend company as a unpaid or internship so i can easy get one employment letter. But i dont know if that gonna work.

    Please guide me through this

    Thank you so much

If your 90 days grace period is finished and you didnot provide your employement letter to your dso, you are in problem. Dso has to issue new i 20 on the basis of employement to maintain your status

You can’t ask your DSO to commit fraud by changing your initial employment information.
If you have not reached 90 days of unemployment yet, find another employer and cut your losses.
