Don't worry about it. As long as you are eligible for OPT (Submitted on within valid period, do not have full-time cpt for a year ...etc), USCIS will send you a RFE (Request For Evidence) if they need the copy with that CPT

          Hello everyone,

I am in urgent need for help guys. I applied for OPT and 2 months later got a RFE- as it turns out, my DSO forgot to include a copy of my passport page in my application package. I am extremely worried as I am not entirely sure whether I should be reissuing a new I-20 (in order to make sure I don't pass the 30 day window of filing), or whether I should just send the passport copy that they asked for. I heard about many people forgetting to sign I-20 or I-765 and having to get reendorsed and refile the entire application. Please advise, this is keeping me up at night.

            Do not worry too much.
If the RFE letter asks for passport page, just reply the RFE with passport page along with the RFE letter.
People who forgot to sign I-765 need to re-file because their "entire application" is rejected (not denied) and is returned to them.
However in your case, USCIS just needs additional document from you. Hence they sent you RFE
Consult with your DSO about replying RFE.

Thank you so much for your assuring words.

So in case I-20 or I-765 were not signed, that would be grounds for rejection? that's why those people were getting their applications back?

My visa is on my expired passport and i have a new passport which I intend to apply with. Do i send copies of both and indicate that one is expired and the other is not?

Thank you so much for your assuring words. to be clear, the request was for initial evidence..it is still not rejected, correct?

                  RFE is not rejection.
                  See this page https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboar...escriptions.do
When USCIS received your package, it will check if it contained certain "must-have" material such as signed I-765 and check with correct fee.
If not, it will reject your application and return the whole package.
Otherwise, it accepts (not approve) the application and send your the I-797C receipt

I believe the passport page is for identification so you need to send them the identification page of an "unexpired passport".
The VISA stamp does not need to be on the same passport.

HOWEVER, the above is just my understanding of the whole process, I would strongly recommend to consult with your DSO before you reply RFE as long as the deadline has not passed.

BTW, just curious, how many days does USCIS give you to reply?
                    84 days?

Yes. 84 days. What does that indicate?

It means you have to reply in 84 days from the date the RFE is issued, so you have plenty of time unless your passport is expired and you need a new one.
If your DSO is on vacation just enjoy the holiday and wait your DSO back to work.

Nope. I have a new one and an old one with a the F1 visa in it.

I just hope that I will not need to regenerate and I-20 and a new recommendation. That would be a hassle PLUS I am not sure how helpful it would be.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write me back the responses. Let me know if you know/ hear of any case similar to mine.
                          Happy holidays to you

                            Hey JMY528,

I read on the USCIS website today what seems to be a new requirement for OPT- it asks for Evidence for Program Completion: Transcripts or Diploma. The memo seemed to have been updated on Nov, 3. Ever heard of something similar? does OPT now require a copy of transcripts/ diploma in addition to all the other documents?

Not sure about that. At least the DSO of my school does not tell us to submit those documents.
                              Consult with your DSO.
