Travel and reentry i20 question

Hi all ,

My OPT has been expired on July 1st. And my extension has been denied on Oct 3rd. My sevis is completed.
I have joined new university which is going to start on Jan 7th 2017. I need to travel and reenter to US. Just wanted to know whether I can cross the border before Nov 5th or should i wait till dec 8th. Can I stay in USA till dec 8th and cross the border. I'm so confused. Please help guys.

Talk to your school DSO. They can guide you better. Also once you leave the US, to re-enter you will need a completely new visa stamp, just letting you know incase if you were unaware .

My visa is valid till 2018 and I guess i can use the old visa to enter but with new i20

As long as your sevis is not terminated you not need to re-enter

Ask DSO if you can take admission to another university and he can transfer the sevis

I contacted DSO and my new school can accept sevis transfer if i take an option of sevis reinstatement only

You need to leave the U.S. within 60 days of the denial of your OPT (your grace period), which is December 2. You can enter the U.S. up to 30 days in advance of your start date, which is December 8.
Play it safe. Leave before December 2, and don’t come back until at least December 8.
