On OPT and have Problem with SSN and Need help to maintain good status

Hi Guys,
I need your help!!
I've graduated in April 2016, and my OPT started on 14th June 2016. Now almost like four months but I've updated my employer details before 90 days of unemployment. Till now I haven't received my SSN due to First & Last Name i.e.,(FNU). And I don't know, like how much time it will gonna be to get my SSN. So now my question is...Do I've to show payroll which I can't as I don't have SSN. Is there any alternate way that I can go ahead and show them like I was working with so and so company. Or else any suggestions related to SSN and to maintain good status.
I'm from (Electrical & Electronics) background.

This just my guess and understanding that if you are on first 12 month opt and you work as a non paid intern then you might not need the urgency of SSN. Which you can update with your DSO and as it is unpaid so no pay checks would be issued. You can work as non paid in the first 12 months of opt.

You dont need a payroll when you are on,your initial opt..
