DO NOT PLAN A TRIP when you have already applied for the extension. You cannot enter the country again for the reason your opt extension will be denied because your i94 is going to change. If it is an emergency travel, apply for extension after coming back. Contact your dso for a better explanation.

You can apply from 120 days your initial opt expiry date

Travel during Post OPT STEM Extension Application pending
Hi Everyone,
Kindly looking for suggestions and comments!
This is regarding travel during OPT STEM Extension application is pending.
My initial OPT (EAD card) expires on Feb 7, 2017
Planning to apply for OPT STEM extension on Nov 10, 2016 (90 days before Feb 7, 2017)
It might take 90 days for the application to be approved, which would be Feb, 8 2017.
Planned travel dates: Dec 24, 2016 to Jan 21, 2017.
Since I am re-entering U.S 2 weeks before my initial OPT expiry date,
1. will i be questioned by immigration officers at the port of entry?
2. Can i say that i have 180 days of employment authorization while my application is in process ?
3. Is it risky to travel in this situation ?
Any suggestions and comments will be of great help.
Thanks in advanceTags: None
