STEM OPT & H1b Processing

Hi Everyone !

I have been working full time for an organization on OPT. My company had recently said to me they wont be filing any H1 for 2017. I am eligible for stem OPT and they are ready to sign I 983 form. But I m not sure whether they will file in 2018 or not. So to be in safer side can I apply Stem OPT with this employer and apply H1 b with different employer for 2017? will parallel applications cause any problem ? will my employer get to know this ? or any other issues ?

There’s no restriction on who files the H-1B petition. It doesn’t have to be the employer who you work for on OPT. There should be no way your employer finds out unless someone (like a colleague) tells them.

No problem, different employer can file H1 as future employee.

As far as I know there need not be any problem... Any employer can file for your h1... No matter who are you working with on opt... I am 100% sure on what I said... Good luck
