Originally I had 17month STEM extension valid till Oct19th 2016. I applied for 7month extension when the new 24 month rule came into effect and received another EAD card with authorization from Oct19th2016 to May19th2017. I asked my school to generate new I20 and they did, however, the Employment authorization dates on the I20 still shows my end date as Oct19th2016. When I contacted my school about this, my DSO said, it is a glitch in SEVIS system and it still shows my employment authorization end date as Oct 19th 2016 even in SEVIS. I was also told, if I were to travel, just show the I20, the new EAD card for 7 month extension and the email conversation that I had with DSO as proof.
1. What are the consequences of this SEVIS glitch?
2. Will I be considered working outside the authorization limit after Oct 19th? I have a EAD card valid till May 2017, but SEVIS says my authorization is till Oct 2016.
3. If I travel to India and while coming back, at the port of entry, isn't SEVIS, the record, immigration officer checks to confirm my validity?
4. If this has happened to someone before, whom should I contact to correct this if it is possible?
