Driver's License with I797 receipt

Hello,

My OPT started on July 11 but there was a spelling mistake in it.But my employer was fine with my spelling mistake EAD Card.I live in New Jersey.I want to know that can I apply for a Drivers license with my I-797 receipt as proof of my Lawful Presence.As I do not have my new EAD Card yet.I have all other documents with me. Thanks.

I don't know about other states but in Texas they need EAD card.You can try with I797 receipt

You can even get your driver's license with your i-20. DMV will just check your SEVIS if it is updated you can get driver's license easily.
