Mathematics Instructor on OPT

Hi.I am on initial 12 month OPT.I have been offered as a Mathematics instructor at a learning center.I will be on the payroll of the learning center.I am from chemical engineering background.Is it okay to work as Mathematics instructor/tutor kind of positions when you are on OPT.

OPT is always related to your major and there no restrictions as such in the initial OPT to work in particular field/profession. But for the STEM extension there are several restrictions which require you perform duties based on your Major. You are okay to work know but in the long term you may to search for a job related to your Major.

your work should be related to the field of study . you might be having one subject as maths in the course but your area of work should be your field of study
