  • India travel safe or not

Dear fellow users, I would like your suggestions recommendations through your experiences and knowledge. I'm in a bit of a situation right now I have to go back to India for three weeks but due to the history of my immigration I am hesitant. I came USA in 2007 for undergraduate in A university after two semester I went to a community college on recommendation of my advisor as it would be cheaper to clear gen Ed. After that while I was in community college I went out of status and had to wait one whole year to reinstate my status back to H 1 during that time I had an attorney who represented me and I was enrolled full time in that community college during my I 20 terminal. After that I went back to my original university and fell out with one professor and got a bad grade in one course and then I went to a different university which is even better and more reputed than my previous university. I finished my entire course work there in just two years and graduated this May. I've my EAD card approved and is on its way. I've joined a consultancy and taking some training in IT field. So this was my history and now around December I had got to go to India due to a family ceremony. My question is how safe it is for me to go India and come back because if I go then I've to apply for visa again. That's the first hurdle and the biggest one. Another hurdle is what if I don't have a client letter and most probably I would not have till December. Another thing what documents I need to take it with me. Another add on is I've never been to India since I came USA that is since last eight years. So i request forum members to share there experiences, and thoughts on this. Thank you

there is a high chance of rejection in extending the visa as a student .once you get h1 then go for stamping

I dont recommend traveling to india... Get a h1 and you might have better chances...
There nothing wrong in what you did but so many schools have been changed and so even your sevis was reinstated... There are records for that and If it's not an emergency get h1 first... Good luck

Overall your case for f1 visa renewal is weak. There are high chances of rejection. Better to wait till you get h1b.

Is your degree in the IT field? If it’s not and you don’t have a client letter to present by December, it may not be a good idea to travel.
