  • Stem extension denied

Today i.e., 08/29/2016 my case status was updated that my application for stem extension has been denied. It also says "Please follow the instructions in the notice". I haven't received the notice yet. Did someone else get the same type of notice, if yes please share the "instructions" mentioned in your denial notice.

Also, I'm way beyond the grace period of my initial opt end date. How much time do I have to take admission and save my status.

I believe you have 60 days from the day your opt has been denied to join a college and within 5 months you should start college. As told by my dso. Consult your college to confirm. Good luck !!

I am an immigration attorney and have helped clients in similar situations. You may be able to file a successful MTR and get your OPT approved. The success depends on facts and arguments specific to your case.

Hi, my opt is denied for placing 17 months i20 instead of 24 months. Before issued i20, I talked with my DSO , she confirmed me by email . After getting denial for supporting document, she gave me confess letter that it's her mistake, though she is telling me to do MTR, I have no plan for Mtr , I have admitted in other programme, going to sue against my university for incompetency , I have lost two years of work permit and job plus new Tution fee, I am looking for lawyer for claiming financial loss, please suggest me some lawyer. Have a good day

The university is not responsible for hand holding you. If they provided an incorrect piece of document, it's your responsibility to double check it. Go for an MTR, that's your best bet here.

Go with MTR, if ur DSO is ready to give a letter saying it was her mistake, it actually makes ur case stronger and your case will have better and faster success rate !! Good Luck.

If I go Mtr , I will loose driving liccence and all other earnings, you don't know Mtr come positive or negative . If your Mtr result come negative you have to leave country, no choice, I left job, I have joined military, background check going on, if I challenge against uscis decision, that option will close too. I have another 15 days in my hand. Already I admitted in other course . Why I am telling that it's DSO fault? After giving 17 months i20, I discussed with her, she assured me it will be ok. Uscis will send me rfe etc. for her immature step, I am in huge financial crisis now. I have admitted other university for securing my status. Is it possible to do Mtr same time?

How are you going to justify financial loss when you told the immigration office when you got your visa that you had all finances in place to pay for the tuition fees? You also told them that you came to the US to study. Now that your degree is finished, and have already had some practical training, the purpose of your visa is fulfilled. Don't think you will succeed with this since your main reason to come to the US was for its world class education and not financial gain.
