SSN Delayed - May lose job, please help!

Hello,
So I applied for a SSN on August 8th, and today is the 24th and it still has not arrived.
The SSA says my name is too long and it needs to be done manually by the DHS, but after two weeks it is still "processing".
I have tried contacting the USCIS and the CBP without neither of them being able to help because they cannot see the information the SSA is requesting and the SSA says the DHS has all the information and cannot do anything.
My job start-date has already been delayed a week -- and I am afraid I will miss this opportunity which will sponsor me to stay in the United States.
I am very nervous and anxious and would really appreciate if someone could give any advice on what to do -- as all offices have told me that they cannot do anything about it, and I cannot just wait on it since I need this information in the next week at the latest.
My employer says payroll wants the SSN to onboard me since it is company procedure -- so I do not know what to do.
please someone help!

SSN is not required for joining. Until your SSN is received, you will be given a pay cheque and the employer will nit be able to do a direct deposit, unless otherwise your employer has some other rules. They will verify your employment using the I-9 form.

I was also on the same boat before but I was lucky to get it exactly after 2 weeks from applying. In the mean while, I have found this link where you can check if any document is sent to uscis for verification, search using your sevis id or verification number and you will get to know the status.

SSN is usually not mandatory. If you have work authorization, you can start working without a SSN.
