Sent 2 applications for stem OPT Extension

Hi

My OPT end date was July 31st. And I applied for 24 Months OPT and sent my application on July 29th. USCIS Recevied my packet on july 29th itself. But Later on July 30th I realized that I did not sign on my money order which I sent and then contacted attorney to findout what I could do in that last moment. So he suggested me to send one more application with new money order and a letter stating the mistake. I did sent one more application and USCIS received it on Aug 2nd. However by August 2nd I received the receipt notice for the application which I sent on July 29th. Surprising thing is they cashed both the money orders and gave me two receipts. Now I am not sure if I can withdraw my second application. What if I withdraw and that affects my 1st application which is on time. What if I dont with draw but still receive an RFE? I called my DSO and USCIS to findout. Customer care person told me that it doesn't affect my 1st application but still I am unable to decide what to do.Can someone please suggest?

My friend had a similar problem. He had forgotten to attach i20 the first package. He resent the application with a fresh check. He then contacted USCIS and was directed to Tier 2 officer who cancelled the first application. However he was not given a refund, the reason being that the check covered the charges for opening the first package. The only good news was that the second application was accepted and he was given an OPT EAD.
