F1 visa stamping during 24-month OPT STEM extension

Hi,

My F1 visa expired in June 2014. I am on my STEM extension period currently, valid till June-2018. I work for a Medical Communications company. I have a valid I-20, EAD Card & recent pay slips. In these circumstances,
-Is it OK to travel to India? What more documents do I need?
-What are the chances of my F-1 renewal getting rejected?
I heard that once students are graduated, it's highly risky and F-1 might not get stamped on OPT. Is that true?

When you first prepared for your visa interviews, you might have been advised to say NO when visa officer asks you if you were going to work while on F1 visa. So if you think about that, your current situation contradicts it since you are trying to get F1 visa stamp to come here to work. I would advice not to leave country.
