OPT 7 month extension - Can I change employer when card is in Production

Hi,

I had applied for my 7 month OPT extension and it is going to be 90 days soon. The online status was never updated beyond 'Case Received'. However when I submitted an online enquiry about the case, I got a response informing that my case was approved and card was sent to production. In this state, is it safe for me to change employer? If the case is approved and card is in production , will I still need to submit another I-765 to USCIS? Or is it sufficient to just inform the university and get updated I-20?

I believe it is safe to change employer at this time. Since USCIS will not check the employment history while card production and mailing.

Yes. You are good. Switch employers and inform your university.
