Additional Stem opt (i.e 7 months)

Hi all,

I have a question regarding New OPT extension rule. My opt extension is valid till October 2017 (i.e 17 Months) , based on new Stem Opt rule i am eligible to apply for an additional 7 months. My concern is if i receive an RFE or denial for a new Stem opt application (i.e additional 7 months), will it impact my current opt extension(i.e 17 months)?

No. If the 7 month extension is denied, your current OPT/EAD should be unaffected.
