  • Whats the meaning of E-verified if employer is not signing I983 form

    Hi,
I have applied for STEM Extension and I received RFE, asking for new I20. My employer told he will fill I983 and now he is saying he can't. There are lot other students like me, whose employer is not filling I983 and are joining universities or leaving the country. My question is, what is the use of "E-verified" if employer is not filling I983. why cant students take legal action against them. I am ready to take legal action, if some more people like me do the same. students in future wont face this situations again.
    Thanks

I have the same issue. My employer saying they wont sign I-983. They are also e-verify employer. I don't think you can sue your employer unless your employer signed in the beginning that they will endorse your I-983.

However I think we can sue USCIS for making this I-983 mandatory which I see is basically a harassment to F-1 students.

E-verify is not the same as filing I-983. I-983 imposes additional responsibilities on the employer that they may refuse to undertake.

Yes , you cannot take legal action on the employer because it's the employers right to stay away from anything he feels will subject the company from audits and checks he does not intend .
So , try to find another employer or leave . I don't think any lawyer will take your case .

Try to find a new employer....the employer backtracking on his word is a huge red flag
