STEM extension through consultancy

I was working on my OPT and got laid off. I have to apply for STEM extension soon and I'm planning to join a consultancy. The work I'll be doing will be related to my course of studies. Will there be any issue if the address of the consultancy and that of the actual company I'll be working for through the consultancy are in different cities? Is there anything else I need to be aware of while applying for extension through the consultancy?
