• Urgent!!! H1 approved(Premium Processing) and STEM OPT Extension is pending. How to reply to USCIS?

Thanks for reading my message.

OPT End Date - June 15 2016

Current Status of my applications - H1-B approved and STEM OPT is pending

I applied for STEM OPT extension for 17 months and got RFE. Now, they asked for the 24 months OPT I-20 document. Also, my H1-B(Premimum Processing) got approved 2 weeks back and i have my approval letter (I-797) with me and my OPT End Date has been extended till September 30th in the OPT Cap-Gap Extension.

What are the next steps so that I can tell USCIS that I don't need the STEM Extension as I am under Cap-Gap and have H1-B approved?
Do I need to send the response for the RFE? If yes, is there any specific format or letter that I can follow?
Will revoking the STEM application hamper my SEVIS or any other critical information?

Please help me in resolving this issue.

You should definitely reply. It’s better to withdraw the application and not let it get denied. Discuss this with your DSO. Reply to the STEM RFE, requesting for the withdrawal of the extension application because your H-1B has been approved. Make sure your DSO checks that there is no change in your SEVIS status, and occasionally do it until Sept. 30.
Please note, Cap Gap extension is automatic. The fact that your I-20 and SEVIS accounts have been updated is just proof of your status. Even if your SEVIS is affected by the STEM OPT withdrawal, you are still technically covered by Cap Gap and can work until Oct. 1, when your H-1B will kick in.
