Regarding OPT Stem Extension

Hi,
I graduated in May 2015, I am working under a professor as unpaid research assistant on my OPT, now I need to apply for my OPT STEM extension, the professor says he cannot pay me but I can work under him as UNPAID, many of the employers are rejecting me because of my OPT status, not getting job any where because of the new OPT Stem Extension rules, Is there any solution for this? How to get OPT stem extension?
