  • Issue with the employer

    Hello,

I wanna quit my current project, and my current employer. In my employer agreement their was, that i need to give a two weeks of notice before i quit the job and i am ready to give two weeks of notice. But my employer says that if i quit the job by myself then the vendor needs to pay some amount to the client, and my employer needs to pay that amount to the the vendor and my employer is threatening me to pay that amount the next day when i quit the job or else he is going to file a case on me it seems. Please can you suggest me what to do in this situation. If i quit the job after giving two weeks of notice will their be any problem for me with my employer.

Dont worry. He cant file a case on you. According to his documentation u are giving him a 2 weeks notice, so u are fine. He does not want to pay the money to the other company from his pocket and so he is trying to blackmail u. Best thing dont even give a 2 weeks notice and just quit. He will learn his mistake.

What does it say in your employment agreement? Does it say in the agreement that you can be held responsible for any penalties or fees if you quit? If it’s not in your employment agreement, then the employer has no case against you. They can try to file a case but they will lose. If it is in your employment agreement or you’re unclear, go see an attorney to find out if it is in there and if it is, if it’s even enforceable. Just because it’s in the agreement and you signed it does not necessarily mean it’s legal or that it can be enforced.
