Travel when on OPT extension process is filed

Hi guys,
I have a situation here:

My OPT expires on Jan 13th 2017 and I have to travel to India in December 2016, however, I will return on/before December 30th, 2016.
I will be applying for my OPT extension in Sept last week of 2016.
So my question is,
1. Will I be able to travel when I filed my extension process?
2. Will I be able to clear the immigration without any difficulties as i am returning before my OPT expiry?
3. Heard that the OPT extension process will be stopped once I step out of the country, is that true?

Please help me with this as soon as possible as a wedding is due based on these dates.

I would say its risky to travel when u just have one month left in ur opt. If is safe if you have op[t extension card in ur hand when u travel.

If you are traveling before expiry date on your current OPT then you are fine. You don't have any issues at immigration. I myself travelled to India this January and returned on 28th Jan while OPT was about to expire on Feb 2nd.

i guess they deactivates sevis at border or at school when you step out of the country and activates again when you step in , not sure how it works

Don't think so, u carry ur card and comeback before it expires, Safe travel
