Changing employer while applying for H1 B

Hi, I'm currently on F1 visa which is valid till mid of this year. I'm planning on changing employers and was given the start date of April 1st, 2016. The new employer agreed to apply for H1B visa (I know we are on a tight schedule etc).
1. My current employer is not very good and might cause trouble in releasing any documents etc. What documents are required from my current employer?
2. What all should be done w.r.t reporting to university regarding change of employer?
