OPT CAP GAP - Driver License Renewal issues, possible solutions?

I am on OPT CAP GAP and am having a lot of trouble getting my driver's license renewed. Have you guys come across a similar problem from anybody, a potential solution ?

You should have I20 from University covering the capgap..you can renew ur license with that. Once ur H1b is active u can take that and renew for 3years.. Maybe this answer helps u

Thanks Siva, tried that, now they say my cap-gap should start, that is current opt should expire, before they can find me in their system. Lets see if that works.

One of my friend had similar problem when starting masters after finish his opt for undergrad. Even after having new i20 for masters, they said they can't issue the license until the start date of opt. And when the opt started, the system was not updated for about 2 weeks.

Maybe you can submit the link documents, that connects both and give a try..

Carry "new" I20, EAD, as well as Social Security Card and Passport- they renew it indefinitely for 3 months at a time. Carry EAD (bcoz if your decision for H1 is pending I20 doesnt hold as much value as the EAD. I understand getting it renewed is a hassle at the Office. Be persistent-dont leave until you get your work done/ a good answer for why they cant renew it...make sure u tell them these are all the documents you have and above all BE KIND they have to deal with so many personalities all day Long
