Hi! I am bhargav Roy applied for my opt in November and I kept my opt start date from Jan 23rd 2016 and I have no status yet, even I checked the status in uscis and it says that my case is received on nov 18th 2015. so am worried like
1. when would i get my opt?
2. if i got opt card what could be the start date?
3. can i file my h1b this year or is it better if i process it next year? as i dont have much time to process for it in april?

you can call uscis as 90 days passed .that we cannot predict may be start date a week before you get the card .you can try applying h1 as it needs luck

USCIS has been slow in processing OPT and OPT STEM Extensions. I applied in November 2015 and my case is still pending. USCIS no longer issues interim EAD cards. Your OPT start date will be the date your OPT gets approved and not Jan 23, 2016
You should apply for H1b this year so you can have a chance next year as well
