  • on STEM forgot to inform my school

    Hi,

I am in a bad situation right now based on what i have read on the internet so far. I changed my job approx. 6 months back but forgot to inform my school. Now i need to submit my I20 with my latest(new) employer information for H1b application.
Is it safe now to inform my school about my employer change? will they terminate my F1 status? If they do so, how much would be my grace period?

    Thank you for help

thank you guys for replying back...yes the company is e-verified and i have had no employment gaps as well. I am just too scared to talk to my DSO since there might be chance that they terminate my F1 status...have you ever heard any situations like this before?

There is only one way to do it. TALK TO YOUR DSO! You have made a mistake early on, no point risking delaying it further. Your DSO might be able to help you out. Last thing you want is to be deported from the USA because of this.

6 months is a very long time...consult your lawyer assuming u have one since ur company is sponsoring h1b visa

I have same kind of situation but new job started 2 months ago. What if the company is not e-verified? Can we enroll now? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

My current opt stem is in process. I gave old employee details when I applied. I am thinking once I get new opt I will update to my university. But I have to enroll in everify process right? Any idea how can I do that?

I updated my employer details just before applying for stem extension and got my extension approved without any rfe. Update ur employer details now and ask ur dso to print new I20

Talk to your DSO. Shouldn't be a huge deal.

How did your DSO respond, please reply

I'm planning to report change of employment after 20 days on purpose, I want to know if this can cause an issue. My STEM OPT application is pending, I want to make changes, only once it is approved.
