Problem:
I have done part-time pre-OPT for 2 months. So, according to that my one month from normal 12 months duration of OPT should be deducted.
But, I have got post-OPT card with 12 months which is the normal duration instead of 11 months which should be the duration.
What I did about the problem:
1) I asked about this to my University and they said to contact USCIS and get it corrected and only then you can apply for 17 months OPT extension.
2) I contacted USCIS, they placed a service request but response i got was that our records show your EAD card has been delivered.
3) I contacted USCIS again and spoke to officer regarding this issue and that i got wrong response. The officer also placed service request and again the response i got was that your address has been updated in our records.
4) Then I took Infopass appointment and met with the officer. She said I don't know much about OPT but if its not big issue then leave it. Else, you can send it back but there is no guarantee it will come back.
Questions:
Now, after this I don't know what to do.
If I send it and it does not come back or gets stuck in processing. what happens then?
If I don't send then what will be the consequence?
If i apply for extension with a note about this, will USCIS handle this issue?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
