How safe is it to go to travel with STEM extension pending & go for stamping with PhD in Biology?

I have completed my Masters and PhD in Biological sciences and i am currently working for a renowned and one of Ivy League universities as a post doc. I have applied for my STEM extension and I want to go to India this month. I have to go for stamping again. I went for stamping last year while doing my PhD and got it just for an year.
Is it safe to travel with my decision pending?
Has anyone faced a similar situation? Please advise.

If your OPT has expired and your STEM extension is pending, you can’t travel. You must wait for the STEM extension to be approved. It may be safer generally to wait for approval.

Carry the receipt of application form I-797 and expired EAD card with you.

I think if you have valid documents. There won't be any issue. I nod to Prabhat's comment, take ur receipt. And explain the immigration with all legal evidences if asked. The recent scrutinizing during immigration is to stop all of people who have false intentions or who think of exploiting the rights given to them as an alien which the officials confirm by improper documents.
