My situation is I had a D grade in one of my course in my first semester. My international center told me that's not a problem and I can get the diploma if I get an overall grade scale of 3 GPA which is a wrong guidance to me. I completed all my courses and my overall GPA is above 3. I did my grad walk and got OPT but after that i came to know that i cannot get the diploma cert because i have a D grade and i should redo a course. I am doing the course again and my problem here is my opt is going to expire in may. I cannot apply for extension without my diploma certificate. I will get my diploma cert in May. How should i apply for extension? please show me a way if you have any. Thanks in advance.

You have not indicated the date when you will obtain the degree and when your OPT will expire. If you obtain your degree before your OPT expiration, get the degree and then file the extension. Even if it is last minute, as long as USCIS get the application or before your OPT expires, you’re fine (make sure you file by overnight FedEx or UP S- NOT USPS Express Mail - and make sure the application gets there on Friday or Monday). If the degree certificate comes after the OPT expiration, see if you can get a letter from your registrar confirming that you completed all requirements for graduation and just need to get the degree. It may not work but may be worth a shot if you can’t get the actual certificate in time.Originally posted by manojfim View PostComment
