  • OPT denia and Status completed

    Hello Friends.
I have finished my MS in Agust 2015. I had applied for OPT and after it, i got RFE about my previous University present and documents where i stayed and studied only for 15 days and after that i got trasnfer to another University where i finished my MS with good GPA. USCIS required my Acceptance letter, Fees receipt, transcript, all assignments, library card, list of book issued by Univesity, these all should be from my previous Uni. where studied for 15 days. I had not all those things, i could not provided it, i sent all those from my current University where i finished MS. But, i got second notice (RFE)was like you did not submmited document which we want. OPT got denial and now my status shows like Status Complete. Now, I sent my all those documents with I-290B and 630$ which USCIS required but not all.

    What should i do?
Can i take admition in new program in new University with new SEVIS ID and will it wok?
My status was completed at 15th octomber 2015. So, should i leave country? or should i reapply for F1 visa at home country consulate?
How long i should wait for USCIS's decision with complete status?
Please help me, its really very serious matter for me.
    Thank you

the best way is go to an attorney they can file you a case and by that time you can think of something.

You have crossed the 60 days mark after graduation and currently you are out status. Do consult a lawyer and he might suggest you leaving the country since doing second masters won't guarantee you OPT after graduation as current opt rejection might propagate. You might to have stick to CPT until you get h1. But h1 there is chance you might rfe for this out status reason.

On a different note, I can't believe that was written by a grad student.

Do take note, he mentioned explicitly "M.S. With good GPA"

Hi.. my younger sister is in US just done with masters this dec 2015 and she should come to india in the month of feb 2016 for 10days at any cost due to personal problems..
She applied for opt long back but it got delivered to wrong address .. and they asked her to re apply .. and my doubts are :
                  1. Will it take same three months time for the opt to reach her like the first time?
                  2. Can she travel to india before she gets opt and go back safely to US ?

She may but it's not recommended. If she have to, make sure she carries all documents pertaining to her OPT application and her job offer, and any other relevant documents.

You are out of status now. You can either apply for reinstatement within 5 months from Oct 15 by taking admission in some university or leave the country and enter with a new sevis record if u have a valid f1 visa.
