H1B Visa stamping issues

Hi, a friend of mine is here in India for H1B visa stamping. He was arrested once in US for DUI but was never proved guilty for it in the case that he fought later on. Now the stamping office in Delhi is asking him to provide court documents, which I believe he can provide. But my concern is that will it affect his approval of visa at all? Will it delay the process as he has to go back ASAP.

It will take some time to give a decision they will do some back ground verification before stamping his visa
