Possibility of 24 months OPT rule for the students who are on current 17month opt

Hi There,
Thanks for all the posts, and keeping upto date on all the topics for international students.. I have a quick question..
I am in OPT extension, and will expire on Feb 2016 (H1 is not picked this year).
So, with this new rule of 24 months Extension, will I be eligible to extend my current OPT again? Which is to extend my opt for 17+7=24 month OPT ? Or should I join school for my status?

I think we are eligible upto 120 days of the proposed 240days ext.. I'm on the same boat too.

Page 65 also has the following text : "Additionally, students currently on 17-month extensions would be able to apply for the balance of the 24-month extension, depending on how much time remained in their current 17-month extension and the effective date of a final regulation." Confused now!

this rule is under proposal and I think it is not yet confirmed to be safe side take admissions in the collage which provides day onc cpt and stand by till mid january if the rules is approved then you can extend your opt .Incase if the new rule denial you can transfer your sevis to the new university in second week of jan . to be safe side

It will allow another 30 days of unemployment for this extension...total will be 150 days..and yeah, this rule will definitely applicable to current STEM Extension holder.....check the draft...

Remeber this is a draft, nothing official, I would wait until something real happens before getting you hopes up to much.
