Travelling to India with a contract unpaid job and 3 months left for OPT to expire

I am planning on a trip to India, for 2 weeks and working as an independent contractor with a company. I have 3 months on my OPT period to end and would be applying for STEM extension when I come back. Is it OK for me to travel or is their a risk involved?

You OPT will be valid at the time of your return, so you are good. Just make sure to carry all the relevant documents.
