Can I change my field after OPT card?

Hello,

My major is Finance but I am not getting enough job opportunities in this field. Some consultants are offering me jobs in different fields i-e IT. I would like to know after my EAD card, can I switch my field or not? If I do, will it affect my status?

While on OPT, you are required to work in an occupation related to your field. Not doing so will cause problems when trying to change to H-1B, etc. as they will claim you were not maintaining status.

know couple of my friends who are working in IT with finance specialization. You can still work as a analyst for an IT company. I dont think thats an issue,

Don't worry dude.. You can switch the line.. I had the same situation. I am from Finance background but i switched to IT. And working in IT since last 4 years..!!! Choose Business Analyst with Finance domain will help you to work in IT with finance background.
