Travel India during STEM application in progress

Hi All,

I have one query and i couldnt find any guidance online or from my friends. Here is my situation.

I graduated on February 1st 2015 and have been on Post Completion OPT, which started on February 22nd 2015. I have been employed since May 10th 2015. I am planing to travel to India in November. My Post Completion OPT would be valid for another 3 months from then. But, I would have already applied for the STEM extension (planning to apply by Oct) and it would be pending with the USCIS Service Center by then. So, can I reenter U.S. with the Post Completion OPT and EAD card valid till February 2016 though my STEM Extension Application is pending?

One of my friend suggested to post it on DesiOPT. I hope to get my answer here. Thanks.

I am in the same situation. I am on OPT and am travelling to India in Nov. I think there should not be any issue as our EAD is valid until February. This is what I feel. Not sure though.

Hard to advise without knowing the exact travel dates. However you can enter US with post completion OPT EAD card if you return before February 21 2016.

Valid Passport +Visa + unexpired EAD + OPT I20 + Job Offer Letter
