1. I did the first Employer Update with the College within 90 days and have a form to prove that. I got a verbal confirmation from my College that the Employer Update has been done. Though I haven't received the OPT I 20, I kind of overlooked it, mostly cause I didn't have to mail it out to the USCIS
2. I haven't really updated the College after that
3. I recently applied for my OPT 17 month extension and the the College responded saying that the initial Employer Update was not done and hence they would not be able to do my OPT extension
I don't know how to approach this situation and I really need help. In my defence I have the form which clearly shows that I sent all the details to the College for the forst Employer Update.
Couple of questions:
1. Is it mandatory to update the College every 6 months ?
2. If the college messed up in updating my Employer details even after sending them all the information, can I hire an attorney and compel them to send me the OPT I 20?
