travelling while OPT STEM extension pending (with unexpired OPT EAD)

Hello guys,

I plan on travelling out of US from December end to mid January. My 12 month OPT is still valid through mid February 2016. I am planning on applying for STEM extension in mid October 2015. So while I am travelling my OPT EAD would be valid but STEM extension would be pending.

1. Is it advisable to travel in such situation?
2. How does it affect my STEM extension application?
2. What are other options? if any...

You are NOT permitted to travel while the STEM OPT extension is pending (http://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/...nce_042010.pdf, page 28, Section 8.4.4). You must either wait for it to be approved before you travel, or file it after you return from your trip.

You are good as long as you have a valid EAD card, a letter from your employer and an i20 signed no more than 6 months ago.

Carry pay stubs, client letter, ead card. U shud be good.
