  • OPT denied - Can I get admission in other university?

    Hello,

My OPT has denied. Till i wait for my denial letter, can i apply and get admission and I20 for second master degree? Does it affect my current SEVIS? I can start that course only after paying tution fees or my SEVIS record gets updated as soon as they send me I20?

    Really appreciate your help! Thanks.

what,s the reason for denial ? we can help you better with that ...there are options like MTR etc if the reason is trivial like 30 day late submission

Hey... Could you please tell me a little more about MTR? My brothers OPT was denied because of the 30 day late submission

hey MTR is used to reopen a case when a decision has been made . It will take a long time usually 6 months and is not an easy process but http://www.uscis.gov/.../questions-and-answers-appeals... should provide a lot more answers ! you can open a MTR to reconsider a OPT decision

we applied for an appeal because it was the fault of the school for sending out the OPT application late. But the appeal was denied by USCIS saying that it is 60 days past the graduation date (however the first denial from USCIS itself came only after 60 days from graduation). The SEVIS status is now "complete". what is the option/solution now?

                    1) Yeah, as far as I know you have 30 day grace period to get admission for your 2nd masters.
                    2) your sevis will be active, provided you do not violate the 30 day rule. If, and I wish It doesn't happen, you happen to violate the 30 day rule you will have to go back to your country and then come back with the new I-20

if the SEVIS status has been changed to complete, can it be reinstated by the DSO to join another course?

Does reinstated process gets positive output? What if that is also delayed and does it affect re-entry to US?
